I use pcAnywhere 8.0. I know, old version and all that, but it suits my needs, as I only connect to other people's computers, never the other way around. And, it works well.
Except that it wants to use UDP, which is typically blocked by firewalls. There is a workaround, but it's not well documented.
What you need to do is to set a Registry value. It is under the following Registry key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Symantec\pcANYWHERE\CurrentVersion\System
The value is named TCPIPConnectIfUnknown and it is a DWORD value. It should be set to 1.
